Nodo Tanzania

How We Source

At Nodo Tanzania Company Limited, we forge deep-rooted partnerships with Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Societies (AMCOS) spanning the lush highlands of North Tanzania (Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru), the fertile expanses of the South, and the emerging coffee frontier of the Mara region. These collaborations enable us to source premium Arabica beans, renowned for their rich, mild flavors and aromatic profiles akin to Colombian Mild, alongside robust Robusta varieties from the West, cultivated naturally without chemicals. By working hand-in-hand with over 400 smallholder farmers within these cooperatives, we ensure a steady supply of hand-picked cherries, preserving the unique terroir of each region.

Direct Export

Our direct export model utilizes Tanzania’s trusted marketing channels, including the historic Moshi and Mbeya auctions, alongside streamlined direct sales ratified by the Tanzania Coffee Board. This enables us to ship specialty Tanzania Peaberry—known for its single-bean cherry, vibrant flavor, and fruity notes—directly to global roasters. Leveraging strategic port access and efficient logistics, we ensure freshness and traceability of these volcanic soil-enriched beans to international markets.

Quality Assurance & Standards

TCB Oversight
All coffee we handle—Arabica (including the prized Colombian Mild profile) and Robusta—must meet the TCB’s rigorous national quality and grading standards. This regulation guarantees consistency, integrity, and international competitiveness.
Grade

Ensuring the physical classification (e.g., AA, AB, Peaberry) of the green bean is precise and accurate for all shipments.

Profile Integrity

Confirming that the flavor profile matches the regional characteristics (e.g., volcanic mineral richness in the North, floral notes in the South).

Specialty Certification

For our Tanzania Peaberry and other specialty lots, we verify the deep, vibrant flavor, bright acidity, and superior physical preparation.

Our Sourcing Process

Ethical Practices

Fair Value Pricing

Through Direct Sales, we ensure a higher percentage of the final price reaches the farmers. By bypassing multiple intermediaries, we secure premium lots while guaranteeing that the farmer’s hard work is justly rewarded, fostering sustainable economic growth at the source.

Compliance and Traceability

Our use of TCB-ratified contracts ensures complete compliance with national export regulations and provides partners with unparalleled traceability from our warehouse back to the exact cooperative and region of origin.

Supporting Farmers & Communities

Beyond coffee, Nodo Tanzania is committed to uplifting the communities that sustain us. We invest in farmer training programs to enhance sustainable practices, such as shade-grown cultivation to combat climate change and improve soil health. Our initiatives include building infrastructure like drying racks and providing access to microloans, empowering over 500 families across our regions. By connecting these growers to international markets, we amplify their economic resilience, creating a ripple effect of prosperity that supports local schools, healthcare, and cultural preservation—one cup at a time
