Nodo Tanzania

Sustainability

At Nodo Tanzania, we are passionate about one thing: sharing the exceptional, world-class coffee of our homeland with you. From the volcanic slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro to the fertile southern highlands, we act as a vital link between Tanzania’s dedicated coffee farmers and the global community. Our mission is to source and deliver the finest Arabica and Robusta beans, ensuring every step of the journey is defined by quality, transparency, and a deep commitment to the land and people who make it all possible.

Our Commitment to Ethical Sourcing

Our sourcing model is built on fairness and transparency, leveraging Tanzania’s trusted marketing channels to create value for our farming partners. We believe that ethical sourcing is the only way to guarantee the unparalleled quality of our coffee.

Direct & Transparent Partnerships

We engage in Direct Sales, negotiating fair prices directly with farmers and cooperatives across the North, South, and Mara regions. Every contract is ratified by the Tanzania Coffee Board (TCB), ensuring a transparent and legally sound process that empowers local producers.

Championing Quality

From the exceptional Tanzania Peaberry favored by connoisseurs to our classic regional lots, all our coffee is assessed and graded according to the strict quality standards set by the Tanzania Coffee Board, guaranteeing excellence in every shipment.

Environmental Initiatives

Sustainability is inherent to the way coffee is grown in Tanzania. We are dedicated to preserving these practices and the pristine environments that produce our world-class beans.

Promoting Natural & Organic Farming

Promoting Natural & Organic Farming: We actively seek out and promote coffees like our Western Robusta, which is cultivated naturally organic without the use of chemical inputs. This approach protects local biodiversity and soil health.

Preserving Soil Health

The volcanic soils of Northern Tanzania are a national treasure. We encourage farming techniques like shade-growing and intercropping that prevent soil erosion, enhance water retention, and maintain the unique mineral richness that gives our coffee its distinctive taste.

Supporting Sustainable Certifications
We guide and support our partner farmers in obtaining internationally recognized sustainable certifications, which not only validates their environmentally responsible practices but also helps them fetch a premium for their hard work.

European Deforestation-Free Regulation (EUDR)

As a key exporter of Tanzanian coffee, Nodo Tanzania is fully committed to meeting the highest international standards, including the landmark European Union Deforestation-Free Regulation (EUDR). We see this not as a challenge, but as an opportunity to showcase Tanzania’s sustainable farming practices.

What is the EUDR?

The EUDR requires companies, including coffee exporters like us, to prove that their products sold in the EU have not originated from land deforested after December 31, 2020.

How Nodo Tanzania Ensures Compliance:

Our direct sourcing model is the cornerstone of our EUDR strategy. We are working hand-in-hand with our partner farmers and cooperatives to ensure full compliance.

Farm-Level
Geolocation

Through our direct relationships, we are efficiently collecting the precise geographic coordinates of the farms and plots where our coffee is grown

Supply Chain
Verification

We meticulously document our supply chain from the farm to the port. This data allows us and our international clients to conduct thorough risk assessments and verify that our coffee is 100% deforestation-free.

Farmer Education
& Support

We are investing in training programs to help our partner cooperatives understand and implement the data collection practices required by the EUDR, ensuring they remain competitive and connected to the global market.
